Do you ever struggle with creativity block? That was my trouble yesterday when I worked on this card. When I’m in need of inspiration, I often turn to card sketches or I scour Pinterest and old catalogs for an idea that gets me going. For this card, I used a sketch that was posted in one of my facebook cardmaking groups.
The first challenge I was met with was a lack of supplies. I did a good job using up my patterned papers and I’m waiting for an order to arrive from Stampin’ Up! on Monday. So, I decided to make my own patterned paper by heat embossing on colored card stock. My recipient likes pink, so I head embossed three background/textured images on Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, and Blushing Bride cardstock.
I was going to stamp the Little Elephants on the front, but then I decided I preferred the look of the 3D elephants from the Elephant Builder punch. I love how the mini dimensionals make these tiny critters come together quickly.
To finish off my card, I added some coordinating texture weave ribbon and stamped a little love on the inside. By the time I was done with this project, my mind was flooded with ideas and I was ready to make more!
What do you do to get out of your own creative slump? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
