Hugs From Shelli | May 2019 Paper Pumpkin Tutorial

Shelli Gardner is the co-founder and Board Charmin of Stampin’ Up! I was so excited when I saw the announcement that she worked together with the Paper Pumpkin team to create the May 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit. She created this kit to reflect her personal style, which I happen to love.  Her creations tend to have a soft, vintage feel with lots of texture and attention to details that make them truly special. While I love this style and am drawn to it, I struggle with re-creating it. Putting this kit together, I felt almost like I was getting a personal lesson from Shelli herself. How cool is that?!?

One thing I noticed is all the layers and textures these cards have. I’m always afraid to stamp on my designer series paper or to keep adding layers, but this kit is showing me that’s OK and often gives a stunning effect.

Another thing that stood out to me while putting this kit together was the use of ribbon and twine. I love ribbon but only use it to tie around my cards. I love how Shelli used both the ribbon and twine together. I also like how the ribbon was cut to create layers behind the sentiments. There are even more great tips to pick up here.

I could really go on and on about this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit, I love it so much. It also has my wheels turning and I’m going to jump in and work on creating alternative projects for you as well as ways to get similar looks if you missed out on this kit. Be sure not to miss next month’s beach themed kit that’s designed to help you spread random acts of kindness.
