Let’s Make it a Year of Cards | 100-Year-Old WWII Vet’s Birthday Request

Joseph Goode served our country in the United States Air Forces in WWII. He has seen our country through the Great Depression, Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, sending humans to the moon, new inventions like color TV, computers and cell phones just to name a few. It’s safe to say that Mr. Goode has seen a lot in his lifetime.

On June 30, 2019, Goode will be turning 100 years old. Last year he received 150 cards for his birthday, and it’s taken him all year to read them. This year, he wants enough cards to read to get him to 101. This is a request we can help with!

A special birthday calls for a special card, so I made this simple shaker card for Mr. Goode using the Come Sail Away Memories and More Card pack, the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set, and the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set.

For this card, I felt like less was more, so I went with simple hole-punched confetti for the inside of my shaker element.

I forgot to grab a shot of the inside before I sent my card off, but it has a punched out balloon with “100” on it, and a message wishing Mr. Goode a very happy birthday.

I hope you’ll join me in wishing Joseph Goode a happy birthday. Send a card to the address above, but before you pop it in the mail, share a photo of your card in the comments here or on Facebook to inspire others to join the fun.
