Sooo . . . aside from me being waaayyy behind, I managed to lose some of the footage from the July 2019 Paper Pumpkin alternatives video. I actually decided to just skip it, but then I realized, I might as well go ahead and share what I already made. It’s not complete, but that doesn’t mean what I DO have is bad, so here it is.
Because there were only three designs in this kit I thought I would try to create one as close to the original as possible, and then another card featuring supplies from the coordinating suite. First up was the Woven Threads card.
While the colors aren’t exactly the same, and I don’t have a label punch or die, this card was pretty easy to replicate using the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. There is a paper in the pack that can be substituted for the background, but I wanted to match it a little more closely, so I used my white craft ink and one of the stamps from the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set. I think it ended up pretty well.
When I saw this suite for the very first time it made me think of one of the very first cards I made that I really, really liked. That card had a similar color pallet and overall feel as the Woven Threads suite. I decided to use the same layout, and this is what I came up with.
Because I already know I like it so much, I decided to make two sets – one for me to keep and use, and the other to give as a gift.
The card from the Come Sail Away suite was also fairly easy to replicate with the coordinating DSP, dies, and stamps. I wasn’t able to add clouds, but I used some sequins from the Woven Threads suite to add a little extra interest.
I also created a fun gatefold card with this suite. Unfortunately I lost the footage. I used DSP for the front of the card, and then cut the waves at the top of a piece of paper I embossed with the High Seas 3D embossing folder. I cut a slit in one of the waves to add my sail boat to and stamped some birds to complete my scene.
Unfortunately I won’t have an alternatives or inspired by video for you for the August or September kit, but maybe I can get one up in October. I’m hoping so! Thank you for your patience!
What did you think of the July Paper Pumpkin kit? I’d love to see the creations you came up with!
