When many of us think of helping people with basic things like food, we think of mission trips to far away and impoverished countries. Did you know that 1 in 7 children in America (that’s right, here in the United States) lives with hunger? As far as I’m concerned, that’s 1 in 7 too many!
No Kid Hungry works to get food into the hands of hungry children through school breakfasts and holiday meal programs, summer and after school meals, and providing a voice for research, policy, and advocacy.
One of the things I love best about no kid hungry is that they partner with people and programs, making the most of resources that are available and working hard to fill in any gaps.
As the holiday season approaches and school break means celebration with lots of food for many, for some, it means hunger. Let’s not forget these children this holiday season!
