Sometimes you have the perfect coordinating duo and you want to show it off. Be it a stamp set and patterned paper, a die and a stamp set, a stencil and a die or any combination you can think of, this is a fantastic layout to show them off.

For today’s card tutorial, I wanted to contrast black and white with bright, vivid colors. I used the same floral image to stamp a black and white background, and then colored it in for my focal point. I heat embossed my sentiment as well.

I did pretty much the same thing for all of these cards, using different stamp sets, with exception to the rainy scene. Instead of using a stamp to make my black and white background, I drew tiny raindrops with Pigma Micron pen.

I was also eager to try this layout with my DinoRoar paper and Dino Days stamp set. It’s fun to see how one sketch can look so different when using it in a different context.

This one was a bit different as I used a more unique die for the focal image instead of my layered shape die. I also added some dimension with faceted embellishments on the egg.

This isn’t the first time I’ve used this particular layout. I went back into my card archives and pulled up a few more cards for you to look at for inspiration. I’m curious which of all these cards is your favorite. I’d also love to see the creations you come up with using this card sketch. Be sure to share your cards with me via e-mail or use #SOEsketchchallenge so I see them on social media.
